Since I fixed the Mint, I figured you guys can all return the favor by fixing my shitter. Here's the skinny: two-year old can is not elevating the floatation ball to the proper height so that the water supply shuts off. So, the water supply never shuts off and the excess water slips out the drain. Pretty simple, only that the water level does fill-up to the proper height. It's just that the ball doesn't float up high enough. It can be manually raised to the point at which it shuts off the water flow. So it's stuck--sometimes. This happens about every one every four or five flushes. Not a big deal. But I don't care to forget and leave the water run all day while I'm gone.
I tried a few of the obvious things. I did adjust the ball by lengthening its extension on the arm--it's threaded so that you can twist it to make it longer. This should produce more leverage against the valve because the ball is further away from the fulcrum. That didn't improve the overall performance of the flush. I also tried to lube the valve with a light petroleum oil that I had on hand. No luck there either.
So there it is. Have at it.
