Jam, dammit

As it turns out, I transferred the domain to our host last year. They were listed with the registrar, Tucows. After much back and forth, I got contact info that was, of course, outdated. After doing a Google on the name cited on our WhoIs, I ran into his blog. I spoke to him about the service. He mentioned that he knew those guys but couldn’t figure out why his name was on the registration.
Honestly, who fucking knows? I find it hard to belive that he had nothing to do with the host. His name was on the registrar, period. Either way, he ended up jumping through the hoops and got the domain back into my hands. We are hosted with Dotster as of now, and it seems to be a pretty sweet gig; tons of space, bandwidth and an actual support team, accessible through a live chat java applet. We’ll take it.
With that, we are up and running. For starters, let’s put that 10Gb of disc space to use. I have uploaded a bunch of material to the Jams, for the riders’ review:
Goo Goo
What I Learned About Ego, Opinion, Art & Commerce: I started listening to this cd because it backed-up the Gomez album, which Savage was so kind to point to, in my iTunes. As a general disclaimer, anything that my wife says Is too loud, and tends to jam too much is worth a drive-by. It’s a greatest hits compilation. I don’t hav much familiarity with their material other than the one-hitters. Be that the case, the album rocks. Hands down.
How We Operate
Gomez: Savage put us on to this band. I’ve uploaded that album as well as a live track EP. I dig it. Some of the older material plods along a bit. I did purchase Bring it on and haven’t been able to it more than a casual spin. Either way, the later album is solid. THe live renditions of that material is even better. Dig.
Stereophonics
These guys are a staple at this place on the Web. Stereophonics: Language, Sex, Violence, Other & You Gotta Go There to Come Back. Those two are not my favorites from the band. But they should whet your whistle. Go out and buy Performance and Cocktails, also loaded up to the Jams. It is their best album. In spite of that, grab a tall glass of whatever you prefer and sit back a take in I’m alright, from You Gotta Go There to Come Back. Brutal, cathartic and wonderful.
For the riders, if you have lost/misplaced/forgotten your FTP and MintJams procedure, drop me a line. I can send it along.
