I miss having the lake as a continuous riding area (with a few exceptions). I have a bike path right out in front of my place, but until you get about 15 miles outside the city, it's chopped up by streets every mile or less. Appreciate it's there, but i just don't have that much patience sometimes. I'm gonna start going in the mornings to see if the traffic is lighter.
I think I should be able to get out before the heavy crowds. VA traffic is nowhere near as aware of bikes as Chi-town. I was on a ride this evening and was almost nailed by a ford 350 being gunned out of a light through a left turn (his). Never once turned to look until I just jumped off, yelled "FUCKWAD!!!" and he turned to see me. He must get it a lot since he seemed to look right away.

Nope, that is the Shedd Aquarium.
How are the streets in VA? Is there a bike awareness among most drivers? Any chance you can get out early enough to beat the traffic?
