Honorary Rider: Bill Murray

Bill Murray nabbed in golf-cart caper
After meeting friends, Murray left Cafe Opera, jumped into a golf cart and headed for his hotel Sunday night, ...
...Holmlund added that in his 30 years on the force, he had never seen anyone pilot a golf cart through the city center
With that, Bill Murray gets Honorary Rider status and all the liberties it permits.
Awesome

Alright folks, here's the situation: I'm slated to attend the Green Tie Ball September 15th. The firm I work for produces materials for the non-profit organization; my wife and I get to attend. The next day is the North Shore Century, which is the last good ride of the season. It's my last chance at this year's ellusive century. Well, I was fine with holding back on the martinis the night before and slugging it in the lakefront wind up and back to Kenosha.
Two days ago, my brother in law calls with tickets to the Bears home opener - face value @ $70 - against the Chiefs. Interestingly enough, I just recently turned down Bergeron and Dutch's offer to hit the Detriot game for $200 a piece.
So, there's not a great chance of getting the 100 miles in, getting back in to town, and making the 3:00 kick-off. Last year, the ride took me six hours of riding time. The last forty are straight down Lakeshore Drive and into the lake wind. The first fifty took me 2.5 hours. The back half took 3.5 hours. The next option is fifty miles, which I can get in with a solid hangover. And then, there's thee pre-game festivities to consider. I live a mile from Soldier Field. The bars will be hopping.
Talk line is open.
Another second time around

Chuck has mentioned intresting musical tangents here before. Awhile back, Savage made a post regarding the new latest Gomez album, How We Operate. As it turns out, I started diggin' the disc a great deal. It just so happens that it is followed-up by a disc I stole from Bergeron years ago: Ego Opinion Art & Commerce.
As things turn out, I started listening to the Goo Goo Dolls' compilation disc numerous times. I loved it. Sure, not the best music that has been posted here. But good solid, light summer tunes none the less. I was never big into the band their first time around in the early 90's, and I don't listen to any radio, as I don't drive anywhere. So, for the most part the tunes were unfamiliar. The compilation gave me a chance to hear most of the good ones together as a solid unit. Good stuff.
I went out and picked up the rest of their albums. I tend to do that, get an album from a friend, spin it, and then buy more albums if neccessary. For me, in the end the music industry wins because I am inclined to pay for music I like. But that's just me.
So here's the two latest from the Goo Goo Dolls: Gutterflower & Let Love In. If you only have time for one, give Gutterflower a try. It might be a bit polished for the message, but that's their thang, right?
The wife an i are hitting their show at Northerly Island (old Meig's Field) on Thursday. Should be a good time and nice outdoor event.
mmmmmmm...

A site I've been getting lost in lately.
I was telling seed the other day..... I went to a beer tasting dinner near me a few weeks ago. 40$, 5 different beers paired with 5 different courses. It was an all Sam Adams tasting, which I normally don't do cartwheels for. It was pretty amazing how the foods paired with the different beers made beers I had written off taste better.
This same restaurant has over 30 beers on tap and is local to me. And not just any beers either. Good stuff like the heavenly Cain and Ebel Red Rye from Two Brothers Brewing. Also most of the Rogue line of beers.
For a long time I have been...lets say, very picky about my beers. A friend of mine drinks PBR 30 packs and it actually makes me angry. Why don't more people get that they can have their cake and eat it too with beer?
So lately I have been on a insane, crazy beer spending spree. Even more than before. Trying every artisan and specialty beer I can find. The other day I spent 30$ on just 10 beers. Granted 4 were 22 oz. bottles.
A few reviews are forthcoming, but for now......respect beer!

The Air and Water Show is this weekend. The weather is shitty, diffuse grey with patches of rain. Still, there is something about catching a glimpse of the Stealth Bomber (not pictured) circling behind the Chicago skyline that is simply awesome. That modern looking fighter with the triangular fins in the Lockheed Martin, F-22 Raptor (scroll down that page for more pics).
All work and no play...

Baggy Pants Target of Ban in Louisiana Parish
That's correct, right next to free speech and bearing arms is
the right to have the government ensure that its citizens wear clothing that
is the appropriate size.
What's even more troubling is the possibility that the government may soon
inhibit my ability to catch a good whale tail. And most of the time, that is a shame.

Campaign Parade.

What's the job of the candidate in this world?" asked Gingrich. "The job of the candidate is to raise the money to hire the consultants to do the focus groups to figure out the 30-second answers to be memorized by the candidate. This is stunningly dangerous."...
"You begin to trap people," Gingrich said. "As the campaigns get longer, you're asking a person who's going to be sworn in in January of 2009 to tell you what they'll do in January of 2007, when they haven't got a clue -- because they don't know what the world will be like, and you're suggesting they won't learn anything through the two years of campaigning.
"For the most powerful nation on Earth to have an election in which Swift Boat veterans versus National Guard papers becomes a major theme verges on insane,"...
And that, my friends, is the most cogent description of the current American election cycle I have heard to date... Awesome.

Hank Aaron is still the king.
Shut the MLB down. Every player that doesn't protest that fucking asshole getting any recognition whatsoever should quit.
Which, it appears, is all of them.
